Christmas shopping, cold days & dark nights. Yep, it is that time of year again; winter! Not every ones favorite season, but it is one of my favorites. The main reason being my hope for Snow!
Like the big kid in all of us I live in optimistic hope that maybe this winter will bring a decent fall of that white fluffy stuff that used to fall in Ireland. I believe it was called snow!

Earlier this year to my delight there was a brief period of, lets call it ‘Irish snow.’ You know the kind?! A couple of millimeters of wet snow fall, people call in sick and the countries’ roads become allegedly impassable! This brief fall saw me scampering up the deserted M1 to the Cooleys just north of Dundalk to a location I have photographed many times but in my opinion always cried out to be photographed in snow.
Snow was still falling as I arrived. I clambered across some stone walls and framed the image in a way I have done numerous times before at this location. I made my first exposures being conscious of the fact that snow has a habit of fooling a cameras light meter.
So with an image I was happy with in the bag, I headed back for home, not before throwing a few snow balls at imaginary friends. The kid has to get out some how!
