Dun Quin sunsetIn this digital age, anyone who shoots digitally will have the problem of storage, filing and cataloguing images. The storage problem is easy to solve, bigger hard drives, DVDs, of site backup etc will resolve that issue.

Filling and cataloguing is a different kettle of fish. To help me out I have been using the Adobe Lightroom program. Since I started using it I have not looked back. For me it does two things, it acts as my RAW file converter and as my filling and cataloging system.

After each shoot, I import the files. Lightroom lets me keyword apply copyright etc to the files before import starts. Once they are imported I scan through the previews deleting the junk and apply ratings to the images I like.

The RAW converter is excellent, and is the same as the one that is used by Photoshop CS3. As RAW converters goes, it is one of the best around in my opinion.

This is just a brief overview of what it can do. If you want you can create slide shows and create web galleries also. Try the free trial download that Adobe offer and see what you think.
